At day 43 I just pulled the sac (made a mess of the tank while I was at it ). Unfortunately, most of the eggs are dark and/or shriveled up. I didn't count the total number of eggs, but I would estimate there to be over 100.
Out of that, there are 8 that may come of something and out of that 8, only 2 that I feel have a decent chance of developing.
After spending nearly 2 hours tearing apart the female's enclosure (between the hot glue and the webbing, it was very strongly in there) and trying to get her and the sac out of all the webbing, only to find almost all dried-up eggs, I'm quite gutted.
Oh well. Hopefully the 2 eggs that still look okay will come of something.
yea, i'm sorry to hear/see that. i hope the few you have left pull through, and wish you better luck with your next attempt. i've only had one sac so far. it was from a wc rose hair though, and of course, not knowing much about it, i was constantly taking a look at it when i was around and i guess i bugged her till she ate it.
Here are a few more Avicularia versicolor photos. I'm liking these more and more everyday.
Post molt and under wraps.
Post molt in all its ethereal glory.
One of them eating a lobster roach and in the middle of the happy dance.
One of them eating a B. dubia. This little guy was prowling around his container after I dropped in a lobster. The lobster dug himself under the substrate and he couldn't find it. After watching him patrolling the perimeter for awhile I relented and tossed in a B. dubia for him. The roach bounced off the webbing and the little versi pounced on it like a cat.
