Can anyone tell me what this is?

It's an odd insect, possible a beetle of sorts, I found outside at about 9:30 pm. Quality isn't the best, especially on the second pic, but I was trying to get a close shot of it.

Lucanus capreolus

Possibly Lucanus capreolus if you found it between Canada and Kansas, east to North Carolina. They are nocturnal, attacted to lights, and active this time of year.
