Ummm no. Jumping spiders for instance are extremely intelligent and curious. They are super fun to handle and don’t seem to mind in the least. They seriously seem to interact on a level I’ve not seen out of any other spider. Anyway back to general true spiders, many don’t ‘bite’ often. You have to damn near squish them to death to get them to bite. Brown recluse? Black window? RARELY bites (I don’t care what your mothers brothers son said). I don’t use a catch cup to move regular spiders in my house…I use my hand. Never been bitten. It’s just fear based myth honestly. Most people think every random bump is a spider bite…no. If you didn’t see the spider bite you, I highly doubt it’s a spider bite.
If anything tarantulas are more defensive than a lot of true spiders because of their size. They know they can stand their ground more than some spiders because they are huge and have huge fangs/venom/urticating hairs. I implore you to interact with small spiders more, you’ll see they are just scared and they know they can’t take you on (not saying you should hold them but just watch them).
Edited to add: defensiveness can vary from species to species and specimen to specimen. Every spider can bite. I’m just saying most wouldn’t bite nearly as easy as most people believe.
