Thank you. She may be my favorite, although with as carefully as I had to pick these species over the years they are all pretty much my favorites for different reasons. The m. balfouri is the only one I’m kind of “meh” about, but when I do get to see it on rare occasions it is also quite impressive.
Sorry I completely forgot about this thread. Here are a few although she is much more orange in person. Had to take these with flash which washes out the color.
I’ve been collecting tarantulas for about 10 years. Due to frequent military relocations, I’ve had to be very selective and restrained about how many Ts I keep. I’ve managed to keep it to these 8 species as of today. I think they all offer something unique with minimal “redundancy” (I know all...
I agree with that statement. I was trying to decide between irminia and cambridgei a few years ago and everyone talked me into cambridgei because irminia have a tendency to be reclusive. Hopefully yours isn’t a hider as is grows because they are striking. If you decide on another down the road...
Definitely let her chill out for a bit. My geniculata goes through moods as well, most of the time she is fine but every once in a while she throws a threat posture at the slightest disturbance. One thing I appreciate about the species is that she never retreats to her burrow when startled.
My first was a p. regalis sling. Honestly the only thing it taught me is that pokie care is over hyped a bit. He is pretty mellow and has never shown any hint of aggression. The next I got was a p. Subfusca and my experience with her has been very similar.
If you’re just looking to add another T, I recommend a p. cambridgei based on what you already have. Not an OW but it would be a great addition to your collection. Arboreal, no hairs, quick growing, look pretty cool. Mine is always out and active.
It’s a toss up for me. I love my a. Geniculata and p. Cambridgei for different reasons. Both are very active and never refuse a meal. The geniculata is just so impressive with its size and attitude.
