That looks exactly like my Pamphobeteus sp. "Machalla"

    DKS, after the event?

Ahh yes, the category of DKS: my tarantula is having spastic problems with motor control therefore DKS and everything is dead. Captmarga: I too have had a tarantula molt out of their uncontrollable, spastic movements. Your description of movement sounds exactly like mine other than mine ate...

Euathlus sp. - "Chilean Flame Rump" help

Bill, you're the first person I've seen(other than myself) to advocate a moist side of the enclosure. Mine hangs out there quite often as well OP, this species is absolutely wonderful to keep. Good looking, easy care, extremely docile temperment(of course there are always individuals with...

    Scorpion Enclosure Setups

It is in the sticky "Commonly Used Thread Index, Emergency Information and FAQ" next to "Scorpion Enclosures" as Link 1. There's also a bunch of other good threads in there so check it out.

Deceased Tarantula - Did I kill her?

Sounds to me like she had just gotten to the point where she was just too old. Honestly, what more could you ask for? Still sorry about the loss; sounds like its time to get another tarantula to keep for a long healthy life.

This Video On YouTube Is Very Intresting

I don't see any video but I assume its about a tarantula hawk. They paralize or kill the tarantula, drag the body back to their nest, and then lay their eggs in the tarantulas abdomen.

    euathlus sp

I'd like to add that I tend to keep my E. sp. "red" a bit more humid. Her enclosure is mostly dry, however, I spray heavily on one half every time I feed(once a week) and 80% of the time she'll wander right over to it and just relax on the damp half. Other than that, everyone else has added...

    Raising T. blondi...Right!

Yes and yes and what Comatose said. Please don't take offense to what I said(considering you were the one who basically coined the term): it was worded poorly. I understand the point of the high ambient humidity and moist substrate. I just know that the first image that comes to my head...

    Raising T. blondi...Right!

Please note they aren't actually swamp dwellers. They are from the rainforest. Swamp dwellers is a terrible descriptive label for saying high humidity/damper environments.

I agree. Definitely Pamphobeteus spp. Also appears to be a MM

    I can't decide!

Euathlus sp. "red"(or yellow or fire or chilean flame or whatever else since they're all the same). Absolutely wonderful spiders. They are extremely docile(General disclaimer: Personalities vary from individual to individual and this is not a guarantee for all members of this species. Also...

Handling my rose hair for the first time

One would think so, but I've always noticed the majority are more apt to roam. Of course there will be those that maintain their defensiveness, also keeping in mind the species at hand, but in my experience, a T out of it's environment would rather wander when undisturbed and bolt when...

    Tough choice

My N. coloratoviollosus is an awesome eater. She is extremely sensitive to vibrations from the prey and it always results in an explosive charge and tackle. One time I was lowering a cricket to drop behind her, I got about .5" behind and above her and she sensed it. She jumped and spun in one...

    Some Terrarium Advice Needed

I believe a shotglass of whiskey is one way to deal with the fruit flies. Maybe try putting it near an opening to the enclosure so they are attracted to it. If the enclosure only has holes poked in it, inside the enclosure would probably work best. Being that O. aureotibialis is a burrower...

Handling my rose hair for the first time

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is that tarantulas are generally much less defensive when out of their homes. It might help to catch it in a cup first and set it to the side for 15 minutes or so. When in an unfamiliar area, it will be more likely to explore its surroundings than feel...

    Curious about rose hair naming

This. Usually whenever someone uses G. porteri or G. spatulata or G. cala(those last two were found in synonymy with G. rosea keep in mind), it is because their own personal beliefs that they are different species than G. rosea, not based on any scientific standings. The funny thing about it...

    Desert hairy!!!

Just curious, what would be wrong with calcisand? In my searches around here, the consensus was that calcisand was fine. My desert hairy is on 3/2/.25 sand/coco fiber/calcisand. The trick if you're not using excavator clay is to put the mix down in layers, and when each layer is done, pack it...

    Is my new tarantula okay?!

Tarantulas rest in some of the weirdest positions that will definitely make anyone do a double take. This is especially true of arboreals due to their living arrangements. An example would be my old male Avicularia avicularia hanging from the wall by one leg(I can't remember if it was Leg II...

    Death curl...but not...

I've noticed Avicularia get in some really weird positions sometimes as well. One time I thought I was seeing things from across the room, but when I got closer, I was shocked that what I saw was correct: My Avicularia avicularia was hanging on the glass by only 1 leg with the rest of it's body...
