So someone asked me yesterday when I told them I kept Ts if I was doing it to 'squeeze out the poison to make drugs'. I'm quite sarcastic by nature, and usually pretty quick on the comeback, but this one floored me, and I could just stare at her for a minute. What are some of the more oddball...
Congrats. Of course, now if it escapes in transit it will cross the country and come back to you (they have spider sense, you know) and bite you on the earlobe when you sleep...
:wicked:
My rosie is Princess Leia, and my OBT doesn't really have a name, although I do say 'you little b^%#*' a lot when I have to deal with her.
@Mushroom Spore: Have you seen the costume shots for the Watchmen movie? Looks like it'll be amazing...
I was going to try to get the shed skin out for some pics, but I don't see that happening, since she balled it up and now it's in the hide behind her, and I don't want to disturb her to try and get it out. Oh well...
ok. thanks. :)
Now I see why they are called rose hairs. She was always kinda just brown before, now she has the most amazing pink hues, and an almost metallic carapace....
Well, we've survived our first molt. She pulled her legs out about an hour ago, and is now standing upright. Now I'm on to the 'no food and plenty of water for a week' part... man that was nerve-wracking! No matter how many times you've read about it and you know it's coming, the first time you...
She's about 4 inches. She started last night around 2am, it's now 9, so she's been at it about 7 hours so far. Still on her back, and I notice legs slowly flexing occasionally...
My rosie webbed herself up in her hide, and I noticed about 10 minutes ago she was flat on her back.... I've been expecting this for about a month, but now that its here, how long should the process take before I start to worry?
Without a scientific name or a decent picture, identification is going to be difficult if not impossible. Common names are usually worthless (I've decided that my G. rosea is henceforth a 'Chilean Birdeater' for example)... :D
Success!
With the intent of giving this thread some closure (and the fact that, actually being single, it's depressing the hell out of me) I'd like to report that I took your advice and it worked! Whatever was in that nectar made her very approachable... :D
I have a human female that's fully mature, but i can't seem to get her interested in mating. She's never molted, and to my knowledge hasn't produced an egg sac yet. I've tried drumming around her, but it doesn't help (I think she prefers guitarists). I've tried showing off my tibial spurs, but...
wikipedia sez:
The tensile strength of spider silk is greater than the same weight of steel and has much greater elasticity. Its microstructure is under investigation for potential applications in industry, including bullet-proof vests, and artificial tendons.
I've noticed that my rosie (who generally is in suspended animation in her hide) now spends a lot of time on the glass to the right, almost like she's trying to get close to where my new OBT juvi is (in a KK a few inches away). The OBT seems to be mostly oblivious to the rosie.
...or am I...
There's already plenty of specific caresheets floating around that you can find in a matter of seconds in google... this was intended to be basic stuff that applied to all Ts.
