    Serradigitus gertschi striatus

Hello all! Ive been away for a long time, but now I am back with a question. Is Serradigitus gertschi striatus communal or for that matter are any Serradigitus or "saw fingers"? Thanks!

    Red lights

Yea, I use red basking bulbs to heat my scorps, and during night I have one big one to view them all. They aren't bothered by it, I think it being a larger wavelength and close to below visible range(infrared) it is not a big disturbance for them, compared to a brighter light. I wouldn't say...

    Beginner Questions

Yea if you can find a Reptile or Bug expo nearby to travel to you can find them dirt cheap like 5-8$ for juvies and like 10-12$ for adults. If all else fails try some online websites I know kenthebugguy.com sells emps for I think 10-12$ but you'll have to pay shipping. Also you can try to...

    Is it worth $20?

those are my thoughts exactly, I thought it may be nice to try for some breeding before her time(Haven't even sexed my four yet), but i hate how all LPS mark their emps for 18.99 or more, I think Ill just stick with 5-8$ juvies and watch them grow up.

    Is it worth $20?

Yea that was my biggest concern, the lifespan, I wouldn't want to buy one not knowing how much longer it has then have it die less than a year later. I would like to have a mature female to try breeding but alas I don't even have a mature male lol Thanks for the advice, should have had that...

    Is it worth $20?

I was offered a mature adult guaranteed female Emperor scorpion for 20$ is that worth it? I mean I can buy 2-3 maybe 4 for around 20$ or more but they would be juvenile and not guaranteed female. Its from an employee at a LPS (her own collection not from the store). She said it was around...

    Segregating...

Yea the only thing I would miss its the tropical look, but ultimately I want to separate them for convenience (and space). Once I start into collecting more and more I can keep giving every one its own 10gal lol. Yes Ensiferum ROCKS, GO BLADE WIELDERS!

    Beginner Questions

Yea you are correct, ambient air temp is best but I use a bulb for basking spots, one thing you don't want to do is heat the tank from underneath. As for the bulb heating the ground it works well with the false bottom setup leaving the top 1-2" dry and the bottom layers wet so the scorp can find...

    Beginner Questions

Yea what Selket said sounds good. The scorp can go a while without food 1-2 weeks is nothing specially if they have eaten before you went. As for me I use a false bottom setup and it works great. I do separate with a scree, although its not necessary, but for aesthetics purposes it keeps the...

seeding grass in the terrarium - scorpion

That would look cool. I would think the biggest threat would be the scorpion digging underneath the grass before the roots took hold causing some havoc. As for coco fiber I don't know if it is the best substrate for plant growth without any other type of nutrition or fertilizer, Ive heard that...

    What is this???

could be a thrip, but its back legs don't look big enough, I know they can jump pretty far for their size.

How do you sleep at night and other eye-rollers

It gets to a point where whenever I am asked "are they poisonous?" I just say yes and are extremely aggressive, so they wont stay in the room very long. {D

    Segregating...

No its not a civil rights issue, that being said I am contemplating moving my colony of emps into separate smaller enclosures. My reasoning happens to be I think it easier to maintain(ie, feed, water, clean) and I can keep a closer eye on each individuals progress. But I am reluctant to do...

choices of breeding food for scorp's

My scorpions are starting to love B. dubia, meatier and more nutrition, plus they have more of a scuffle with the roach which I find fun to watch(crix would just go "spluuch").

    terrarium plants... flytrap?

I know if you snip off the bloom stalk before it grows to full length, that helps with keeping the plant alive for longer. They use up a lot of energy in developing the flower stalk. And a lot(if not all) of Flytraps hail from the east coast of the USA(like N.Carolina, S. Carolina)

Dead Emperor and Terrarium Question w/pics

I believe that is called a false bottom setup, which I use myself to great success. The nice thing about it is keeping lower substrate moist and the top layers dry, basically allowing the scorp to choose its own comfortable level by burrowing to various depths. I never used a heating pad, and...

    house fly parasite?

Yea, its common to attack cinch bugs in lawns and like most fungi is in a higher contamination period during fall/winter. Sorry don't mean to be a jerk or a "know it all" and I am sure its a typo but you are talking about Beauvaria bassiana or muscardine disease. It was a huge problem with...

    Considerate Scorpion?

Yea i knew that, but the thing is this juvie isn't one of hers, and its about 2/3 her size. Also to note I don't even know if it is female or not, haven't sexed them.
