    First male spider.

My Honduras Curly Hair (Brachypelma albopilosa) recently molted and is one big leggy spider. I suspected it was a male because of his legginess. Well today, about a week and a half after his molt he started to lay down mad web and then started to do what I thought male spiders do. So anything...

    T. Blondi hasn't eaten or moved for 9 months.

He ended up molting about a week ago. His fang came back and he is now really big. 9-10" I would say. The carapace looks like the size of an egg! I've never seen him come out so pretty and jet black before. Well, never this black. Can't wait to feed him.

    H. lividum Fangs.

Mine does that all the time when it does it's threat displays. It'll never bring it's fangs out until it bites.

    T. Blondi ?'s

I have a pretty big T. Blondi and everytime I change its substrate she will walk around the cage for hours trying to look for a way out. I think that is just what some of them do when you take their home away and put them in a strange place. Of course she always makes the new place her home and...

Substrate is not wet.He is dissolving it into a brown liquid with his fangs then smearing it across the side of the glass.

My Brachypelma boehmei is eating peat moss and spitting it out.

He is about 2" big, and has been eating the peat moss substrate in his cage. He will get down on the ground and plant his fangs in it as if the whole ground was a giant cricket! He then brings some up to the side of his jar and turns it into a brown watery goo and smears it on the glass. He has...

    T. Blondi hasn't eaten or moved for 9 months.

Never fed it a mouse. Nothing but lots and lots of big crickets.

    T. Blondi hasn't eaten or moved for 9 months.

This is what I thought, but I was just checking because I thought this was an excessive amount of time to not be molting. I know a happy spider is a still spider, but for 9 months? I offer it food maybe once a month after 3 months of this behavior. The crickets will just run around and even...

    T. Blondi hasn't eaten or moved for 9 months.

My 7-8" T. Blondi hasn't eaten or come out of its hide in 9 months. It's got a huge abdomen so I'm not worried about it starving. I know these Ts can have strange behavior, and mine has, but I was expecting it to molt by now. At first I thought it was in premolt since it usually does this before...

    Aggressive B. Smithi?!

This wasn't after prolonged prodding. He attacked and bit my poker the second it touched his rear legs.

    Aggressive B. Smithi?!

It's not nonsense. It's the truth.

    Aggressive B. Smithi?!

    It was a joke.

    Aggressive B. Smithi?!

I used a long tweezers to check it's temperament, and I did it gently. 99% of the time he would just move a little in the direction I push or just stay still, not turn around and bite it so fast that if it were my finger I would be tagged! And yes, it stridulated a few times! I think the T...

    B. Smithi surprised me

Nope. Didn't run. Leaped from a standstill at a good 30 degree angle at me and landed on the glass. About 1 foot. Had two people witness it happen. I didn't even attempt to get near that spider for 2 years after that. Now she ain't so bad, but does have her moods.

    B. Smithi surprised me

I wouldn't put it past your jumping 2 feet. I never thought Ts could jump, and was told that all my life. Well that all changed when one day I put my hand in my rose hair's cage and it jumped 1 foot at my hand and landed on the side of the glass. It's one of those aggressive ones though, but...

    Aggressive B. Smithi?!

I've got a 3" one I've raised since it was 1/2" and he has always been a little strange and unpredictable, but never aggressive. That changed these past few days. I don't know what got into him, but when I prod him with a poker to get him out of his cage he straight up turned around and attacked...

Any truth to bigger size = more intelligence?

Is there any correlation between size and intellect? Are larger growing species also getting the benefit of increased brain size? Or is the bigger factor due to what type of species it is?

    T. Blondi hissing for no reason?

"he" is only 6-7" legspan now. I am pretty sure "he" is a she but I'm no expert, and should get a picture up of his last molt. I have a habit of calling all of my spiders "he"
