    Poecilotheria Rufilata to Poecilotheria metallica

Mine is still a sling, I've only had her for a little over a month. She's calmed down since then particularly after she started webbing and making herself at home... My next Pokie to get is a Rufilata. Probably gonna wait till next year though...

    Tarantula keep frogs as pets?

Yeah I also thought of this but I'm curious how a captive bred T would know not to eat the said frog. Could go either way IMO. Things happen in captivity that don't happen in the wild and vice versa.

    Tarantula keep frogs as pets?

Don't try it at home. A hungry T eats what it must, lol.

    Loving these WalMart containers

@Trenor Ive had the same problem and I want to reuse the cork bark in my P Vittattas new home but it'll be tricky to get out then again first comes the spider, haha.

When do slings stop accepting pre-killed feeders?

Idk, I quit feeding mine prekilled once they're large enough to take down a large cricket. I prefer to let them hunt than to scavenge. The meal is fresher that way, plus they're quicker to take it IMO.

    GBB Question

From what I've read, GBBs have a tendency to live higher slightly off the ground than a true terrestrial. Honestly, I wouldn't give them an arboreal set up but I would give them a bit more space to climb than a normal terrestrial and see what it prefers.

How do they breed Ts; Traits and genes

I totally agree with you although I must admit a green P Metallica does sound pretty freakin sweet...gooty gem.

How do they breed Ts; Traits and genes

It's an interesting topic to ponder on but it's not as advanced yet as breeding say dogs as in some ways it's much harder to do to that extent and sometimes even frowned upon as in particularly, hybridization.

Arboreal slings in pill bottles - how to prevent escape

I give my arboreals big homes to grow into rather than start small like my fossorials. It's just easier IMO. Much easier.

    Ts and music

I play fiddle and guitar in my T room all the time and I never get a round of applause. My Ts must be tone deaf...

    Beginner Stress: Owner and T

Yeah, the first few months can be worrisome, they're very hardy however. I'm worried about the winter months as it gets COLD in our room with no insulation and I'm worried what'll happen if the power goes out...especially if I'm at work or something...that's my biggest concern nowadays. The rest...

    What to do next?

My and girlfriend and I had one of our slings pass in a bad molt, tragic and sad but I didn't let it stop me from collecting as it becomes a passion, some say obsession. Personally I always recommend the GBB. Great webbers, beautiful from sling to adult, good eaters, fair growers, and fast...

    Proud of my gal

I'm proud of my new P Metallica sling... She's scared of living feeders so I offer her prekilled crickets thanks to the mealworm parasite scare in my other thread. Well I fed her a prekilled cricket today that still had some oomph in it, it apparently was just severely maimed and had some...

    Mealworms Ugh

I'm only semiworried about one as only one ate from this batch of mealworms. I feel like it would have to be an aggressive parasite to infect a T as they digest their food outside of their bodies. I doubt a parasite that was the size that it was would be able to survive the Ts digestive fluid as...

    Mealworms Ugh

I'll keep y'all posted, I've had them in the fridge since I bought em and they also kept them in the fridge. They looked like little mealworms, it was super gross and creepy. I'll cut another one open tomorrow morning and I'll take pics if I see anymore.

I'm gonna cut open a few more tomorrow and see if it's the whole lot of em that's got this problem...

    Mealworms Ugh

It's a local pet store. A mom and pop shop, I'll let them know and they'll probably get rid of em. They're pretty good people.

    Mealworms Ugh

Yeah, I'm not so sure if it was not a parasite but I won't be buying them EVER again and I'm not feeding them to my Ts. Those things were NOT tiny, I'm really worried about my C Darlingi sling now..., Ive fed her two from the same batch that this one came from...

    Mealworms Ugh

I thought the same thing until I watched several small mealworm looking things pushing their way out of a prekilled mealworm... By far it was disgusting.
