If I ever had to restart my collection i'd invest in a breeding pair first. Something in demand and easy to breed and fast growing if I get them young. Once you have a bunch of baby spiders, that is basically currency as you can sell the slings and have cash to invest in other spiders. Or you...
How much of the vents do you have covered? Covering too much of the ventilation can cause stuffy conditions which can be just as bad as arid conditions.
How are you moistening the substrate and How fast is the enclosure drying out?
When setting up humid burrowers I fill the enclosure layer by...
For an even faster response, I'd recommend typing whatever you have planned for a thread title into the search box before making a thread. Instant reaponses!
Give water bowl and put it away for a week or two. If it was a bad molt there's not really much you can do. If it's just resting post molt then you will only make it worse by trying to "help".
2 weeks alone with water and you'll either have a healthy spider or, worst case, a spider shaped pile...
Have:
1.1 B. vagans
0.1.1 B. albopilisum (hobby)
Want:
B. albiceps
B. emilia.
For some reason Brachys don't pull me in as much as other genera. I think the growth rate just turns me off
My Ephebopus(es?) Do this same thing. They put up a thin webbing over the entrance that they will break down almost every night. I think it's just as you said, to prevent junk from falling down the tube.
+1 Ephebopus
I have 2 big E. murinus girls and an E. uatuman and I see them all pretty regularly. The murinus is my favorite as they are big and thick legged and have a beck of an attitude to go along.
+1 Chilobrachys.
I've got about 10 juvies of fimbriatus, dyscolus (Asian smokey) and Kaeng...
An Inexperienced breeder could have paired a mm P. irmania with a P.cam. Then would be selling hybrids as P.cam whether knowingly or unknowingly. Grow it up and find out?
That being said, my P. cam a few molts older so I don't have a point of reference
My versi was a runner before she got her adult colors. Now she's more prone to hide when I'm doing maintenance. It's funny that everyone mentions G. pulchripes as their other runner because, aside from my young GBBs, my G. pulchripes is my only other spider who consistently tries to walk out
I actually only saw one for the first time this past weekend while dropping off your 1.0 L. striatus to a guy who's female just recently molted. Having only seen pictures of them here and there, I was really impressed seeing them up close.
Update For you btw, I think my female is in premolt...
I wonder the same thing....like, I can't imagine being in the middle of something and then stopping to ask my friend to take a picture for social media haha
We uglies don't have a lot of room for error when making first impressions haha
But in all honesty, a willingness/ unwillingness to accept something you're passionate about says a lot about their level of trust and open mindedness. Maybe putting a photo of you with your spiders will increase...
I feel like there are two types of pictures of men with their spiders:
First, the "hey look, I keep spiders" picture. This is always a handling photo and typically a selfie with either a face that says, "I'm edgy" or a face that says "I'm wacky."
Avoid this type of photo.
The other type is a...
In a dream I flipped over a large piece of wood. Under the wood was a hole with these huge spiders in it.
I immediately started to entertain the idea of keeping spiders. I started doing research and was beyond fascinated by the different species with different looks, attitudes, and care...
And to add to this, gbb is a great starter tarantula IF you have no interest in handling. If you expect to have it in and out of the enclosure please look at other, more docile species... Or a cat
