I think it used to be Brachypelma but the changed it to sericopelma. Don't quote me on that

sericopelma angustum used to be brachypelma

Sericopelma angustum, also known as the Costa Rican red tarantula, is a species of spider in the family Theraphosidae found in Mexico and Central America. The species was formerly included in the genus Brachypelma.

Yeah I believe it used to be classified as a Brachy but was reclassified into sericopelma. Tarantula taxonomy is pretty messy it seems

Sericopelma angustum has always been Sericopelma angustum and has never been in the hobby.

What has been sold as Brachypelma angustum and Sericopelma angustum is most likely a hobby mutt made from Brachypelma. It is not a recognised species.

According to this paper https://zookeys.pensoft.net/article/6315/ I found it sounds like it actually was formerly mistakenly classified as B angustum.
