Of course! IMO the best Brachy. The majority of boehmei that I have kept tend to be as active as vagans and they tend to have a little more attitude too. As for the look, the dress, the attraction.. always wow!
I sense some hybridization with your specimen though. Was it sold as 'boehmei'?
I "rescued" her from Petco...where she was being sold as B emilia
Granted, my phone doesn't take the best quality photos, but yes I've suspected she may be a hybrid for a while. I've seen a boehmei x baumgarteni hybrid in here that looks strikingly like her, so that's my guess.
@Paiige A lot of spiders are sold as boehmei, that are in fact boehmei X baumgarteni. I think it might be because the cross is slightly brighter than a pure specimen of either species.
@Leonardo the Mage I believe that! When I initially started suspecting that she was a hybrid I did a lot of research on them and found that a lot of 'boehmei' are actually hybrids, even in pictures from Google searches. I wasn't planning on breeding her - I wasn't planning on taking her home to begin with until I realized how swampy and bare her poor Petco prison was
If crossing B. boehmei with B. baumgarteni produces a healthy and beautiful tarantula, I see nothing wrong with it, so long as the offspring are properly identified.
My impression from these forums is that one is fortunate if a chain petstore even gets the genus of the tarantulas they sell correct, much less the species or husbandry. I'm glad that this one found a good home with you.
