Correct, but I am old school. Ha ha.... brown carapace porterii, pink still rosea in my mind but yes, the latest classification now has what was the classic colour form also classed as porterii with only the Reds carrying the rosea name.
is it ethical to rename the specimen based on colouration without examining the number of stridulating setae on their palpal coxa? I thought that was the only real way of differentiating the two species? And also only for the hobby specimens.

My understanding is that emboli do have differences...but I would counter with...is it ethical to consider two different looking species as the same just because that's how its always been?
In a hobby reliant on captive breeding, keeping them separate would ensure that the two species would be kept separate...its a way to keep confusion from becoming a hobby disaster.
I hear ya spider house...I think I still have a hamorii or two labeled as smithi...haha.
Oh i agree about keeping them separate, what i find confusing is how quick people are to judge a species (G. rosea / G. porteri) by looks alone without considering the backstory of acquisition or even if localities are known. And i don't mean your comment specifically. It just happens so often with these species and you are one of the few that i felt like was not just parroting the common sentiment but rather had an actual opinion behind it.
I have been struggling to understand and interpret the actual publications and their taxonomic descriptions of what i would call sister species or sub species: G. rosea / G. porteri (porteri was right out though) as well as B. hamorii / B. smithi and to me it seems the publications are not accurate enough to allow for a positive id ether way. Now i am no taxonomist and obviously people in the hobby have found ways to help themselves.
