At first I could not see any obvious injuries, but as I started to gently extract her from the hole, I saw a substantial amount of hemolymph near the pedicel. (Most of this was absorbed by the paper towel that I set her on.)

That sucks, but are you sure the hemolymph wasn't a result of tearing a weakened cuticle as you extracted her from the hole?
