I know the abdomen is destroyed. I was so bummed I couldn't use it to tell her sex. But I saw you can sometimes tell by the pedipalps and bulbs on the front legs. Can anyone tell using that? "She" is a G. Rosea. Thank you!
Unfortunately that part was severely damaged when she molted, so I can't use that to tell. I was just hoping maybe someone could make a guess based on the pedipalps.
The palps of the molt wouldn't be any different based on gender. If the specimen in question were to become a mature male, he would possess bulbous palps that resemble boxing gloves, and with G rosea you would find spurs or "hooks" under the tibias of the front pair of legs (not the palps!). The body would also be much smaller in comparison to the legs especially when compared to the proportions from the previous instar. A Chilean Rose that size is more likely female though. Every male I've personally seen has been smaller than that exuvium.
