You can't tell the age of a tarantula, unless you've had it since it was a sling, there's a lot of factors that'll influence how old it is and how fast it was growing. Such as how often it was fed and how warm it was kept. Tarantulas that gets fed 3 or 4 times a week and is kept warm typically grows faster than tarantulas that gets fed once a week and that is kept cooler. Though if it's just 1.5" in legspan then it's still a juvenile. To find out the sex, post a ventral shot of the abdomen focused on the epigastric furrow, or wait for it to molt and sex via exuvium.
