Acanthoscurria sp. ("Nhandu sp. RED")

Material:
1 female exuviae (Carapace length 31 mm)
labeled as Nhandu sp. RED

Description (only main features):
Urticating setae type I and III present.
Palp trochanter retrolateral with stridulatory bristles plumose setae (Fig. 2).
Leg I coxa prolateral with plumose setae.
Leg I trochanter prolateral with small stridulatory bristles and plumose setae (Fig. 3).
Femur I prolateral with plumose setae.
Femur IV retrolateral with a pad of plumose setae.
Spermathecae fused with a weakly sclerotized base and with two rounded apical receptacles (Fig. 4).

Diagnosis:
All presente features fits into the diagnosis of the genus Acanthoscurria

Differential diagnosis:
Specimens belongs into the Theraphosinae and differs from all genera of the tribus Grammostolini and Hapalopini by the presence of urticating setae type I.
They differ from other genera within the tribus Theraphosini by the prescence of stridulatory bristles on the retrolateral Palpal Trochanter and prolateral Trochanter I in combination with a fused Spermathecae with a weakly sclerotized base and two rounded apical receptacles and plumose setae on the retrolateral Femur IV.
These Acanthoscurria sp. resembles A. geniculata, A. juruenicola, A. simoensi and A. chacoana by the structure of spermathecae. It can be distinguished from these species by the spermathecae base is wider than long.

Remarks:
The male is unknown.
