Nice shots again fince :) But.. Lasiodora cristata is now Nhandu chromatus ;)
Hi,

Thanks!

According my recent knowledge, both names are valid (and the hobbyists also using both names).

Just has transferred to Gen. Lasiodora by Bertani when he made a revision of 3 Genus.

Bertani, R. Revision, cladistic analysis, and zoogeography of Vitalius, Nhandu, and Proshapalopus; with notes on other theraphosine genera (Araneae, Theraphosidae). Arq. Zool., S. Paulo 36: 265-356.

and also desribed by Schmidt as a new species (of Gen.Nhandu) in 2004.

Schmidt, G. E. W. (2004b). Der Doppelgänger von Acanthoscurria geniculata (C.L. Koch, 1841) heist Nhandu chromatus sp. n. (Araneae: Theraphosidae: Theraphosinae). Tarantulas of the World 92: 6-11.

Bertani's work seems more authoritative to me.

Please correct me if my infos are wrong or there is new information what i don'tknow!

Hi Fince,

According my recent knowledge, both names are valid
Yes, they both valid names, but for 2 entirely different spiders! Well, valid for the moment. You should see L. cristata, along with a number of other Lasiodora species, get synomized in an upcoming publication.

(and the hobbyists also using both names)
They shouldn't be :)

This information can be found in many different threads on this board, but I will rehash it quickly....

The spider we call Nhandu chromatus was undescribed prior to Schmidt describing it as such in 2004. It was only incorrectly labeled as "Lasiodora cristata" by folks in the pet trade. The real L. cristata has never been in the hobby that I know of. So, our N. chromatus has never been described as anything other than N. chromatus.

Now, whether it really is a Nhandu species, well, that's a different discussion :)

My Lasiodora cristatus/cristata aka Nhandu chromatus (well, I prefer L. c. since I got it as so :)).

Not the best pics but it's all I got right now.
