hey,
I found an average sized wolf spider not long ago, a Trochosa sp. About 15mm in body length, and it's in pre-moult. You could try looking for one, since this October is gonna be really warm almost all the way through. They'll accept mini-mealworms and crickets.

And if you can't be bothered looking for one of these wolfies, then you can buy H. carolinensis here:

yep, about 4". my MM was about 3-3.5" and my MF was much stockier, but about the same legspan, maybe only 3" max.

Unfortunately it's in a little moulting hide now, so I can't get a picture of it. However, here's a picture of one identical to mine.
