I'm expecting a wolf spider in the mail. Has anyone compiled a caresheet for them? It's about 1/4". I was planning on feeding it wingless fruit flies... Unless of course anyone has a better idea. Are they communal or is it one per critter keeper? Does anyone have any experience with these that you care to share.
Thanks!!!

Congrats on your new spider! Wolf spiders are pretty straight forward to care for. Fruit flies will be fine but the spider will do much better if you vary the diet. They will chow down on each other so it is best to keep them all by there lonesome. Good luck with your new spiderling. If you don't mind me asking, is it a Carolina?

peace,

Thanks for the info. Yes, it's a Carolina -- Lycosa carolinensis. I'd like to feed it a varied diet, but what else could I feed it, it will be so little. I always liked spiders, but I didn't realize that you could keep any in captivity other than Ts until I saw this for sale.

try baby crickets and very small mealworms. Do you have a mealworm colony?

You can also use young buffaloworms (Alphitobius laevigatus), as these are smaller than mealworms. I don't know if your spiders are too large to give them springtails (Collembola)?

It arrived today! It is so tiny. I think it's 1/4" all legs. Its body is maybe 4mm. I don't know insects very well, I guess I have to start learning. I'm going to try wingless fruit flies tomorrow and I'm off to google springtails as I have no idea what they are.
