Just wondering, will CSU (Colorado State University) in Fort Collins allow tarantulas in the dorm rooms.

The problem IMO isn't if those places allows T's inside.

The ethic issue IMO is: "is right to put a Theraphosidae, therefore a gentle innocent animal, among that noisy jungle full of new and old school Nerds, Youporn amateurs, Alpha Omega something, stalkers etc etc and etc, not even mention the spraying everywhere something chemical rapture that lives deep in U.S heart?" :pompous:

If you have tour own dorm room to yourself, buy a hardy T, and make sure nobody sprays or really goes into your room unattaended, then it could work. But that's a lot of variables, and it may not be in the best interest of the T. You'd need to be very careful in a place full of ignorant college goers that may not care about your T.

I had a tarantula and emperor scorpions in my dorm at UNM. My suite-mates were on board, and we didn't tell the RA. Worked fine.

Sorry to say but it's a terrible idea to have a T in a dorm. Let alone the fact that having any friends over will guarantee they'll mess with it, if it ever gets out or bites someone that's sure to be a liability and definitely going to be a negative to the hobby. As much as it sucks to say it's best to leave them with someone who can care for them until you get an apartment. Large groups of loud noisy irresponsable teenagers + sensitive venomous instinctual animals= a very bad time for those involved.

Also I bet you they spray pesticides every year to get rid of bedbugs. It's a college dorm. There are definitely gonna be bedbugs and the college is gonna spray for them.

I had two tarantulas in my dorm room for 4 years. Most people won't even notice that you have one until you point it out. Just make sure that it is cool with your roommate beforehand. Obviously, don't tell your RA unless you know that s/he is cool. Tarantulas aren't too hard to hide.

I had a corn snake in my dorm room in college. I had to sneak it out when a fire alarm malfunction kept us out of the dorm most of the night and they were going in the rooms to fix things. Other than that I never had a problem with it. I was "the guy with a snake" though. Around here I don't think anyone will fault you for being the "guy with the tarantula."
