I know this question probably won't go anywhere but why would my adult, female G. pulchra be standing with her legs stiff, like when T's eat, but she's not eating. She's just as tall as she can get for a reason I can't figure out. I know it's not a substrate problem so I'm stumped. None of my other 70 or so T's have shown this behavior. Any ideas. Thanks.

My B. smithi did the "toe stand" for a week or so then suddenly stopped. Don't know why she did it but nothing was wrong with her and nothing in her cage was changed before or after.

My Grammostola aureostriata, does the same thing.Kept that pose for half a day, I thought at first there was something wrong with her but she is fine. I have a couple rosie also, they also act "odd" sometime. In fact I now call this type of behavior the "Grammostolic complex". {D {D

My G.pulchra does it sometimes. She stands on her toes, and has her butt in the air.
I haven't seen any of my other spiders ever do it, (I don't own G.rosea, though)

me too

me too, my b.boehmei used to do that, its funny because while doing it he/she swings when she moves a single step, but now its not doing it anymore, and oh one time she moves like robot 1,2,3 steps then pose then 1,2,3 steps and pose again she keeps doing it for a while, but now shes back to what i think normal way of walking and standing.

only our pets could explain this phenomenon to us, if we understand them hahha{D {D

Obviously she is posing for a series of photographs to be soon posted on these very boards :hint hint: as she wishes to become a model.

i read in a book that it could be because of mites or other smaller organisms on the subtrate. last time one of t's did that was when ants invaded her tank.

Our sweethearted G. aureos do this occaisionally .... no alien infestations in their tanks. I like the term "Grammostolic complex". Term officially adopted in the howwwse! :D :D My big B. smithi girl does this too. I'm pretty sure she's just a weird Brachy, tho. They seem to have the same odd (read: psychotic) behavior as the Grammostolas. At least in my experience. Could just be me - and it's spreading to the T's...? :?
