I along with many others keep oak leaves in with my millis and pills. I've also read that pecan leaves are good, even with African species.

What makes oak leaves the right choice? Is it because they make a substantial leaf litter, or some other factor?

Do you try to sanitize the litter, and if yes, how?

I believe Oak Leaves are higher in some nutrient contents, specifically chitin, but Im pretty sure any hard wood leaves will work well.

I bake my leaf litter in the oven before tossing it in the setups. I dont know what temps most people use but I've tried ranges from low 200's - 300's for 15-30 mins, they all seem to do the job.

Here's my AGB enclosure. All the wood and leaves they could want:

I don't think I've ever seen them touch the dog food that's in there. The environment is 100% edible.

The wood and leaves supplies nutrients that increase lifespan and allow breeding to occurr. Most people think it's chitin, but nobody knows for sure.
