Why does scorpion venom potency vary so much with region?

Is it because of the available prey items, the temperature, or does it just vary genetically (which is what I think)? Anyone got any sources to post the links to?

As with all animals, a product of their environment.

Prey item availability, environmental conditions and natural barriers between populations, possibly predators. Lots of factors influence this and it's rarely just one. It is genetic for sure, but there are always reasons why certain populations have evolved genetically distinct traits. Any organism is the product of the environment it has evolved in.

When I said a product of their environment it was in reference to a treatise I read which expounded upon Darwin's theories of evolution.
Not the perceived environment of here and now, but a time line dating back to the origins of every living organism within that time line. The environment is evolution made manifest, an infinitely complex series of causes and effects. And "A window into the past" as the treatise was titled.

Consider, me reading that treatise then recalling it here, you reading what I wrote to become a part of your environment from the greater environment of AB which is a tiny compendium of a still greater environment and so on.
The whole gets summed up with "Do not look too closely at the man behind the curtain for in that direction madness lies." -Unknown
