Why do wolf spiders need such big enclosures?

I was wondering. Why do wolf spiders need 5 gallon tanks? I mean, most of them are the size of a thumbnail.... I just don't understand at al.

My best guess is that it has to do with there life style they like to roan and stalk prey like there name sake so more room to move means happier spider

I use a large Exo Terra faunarium. Works perfect.
