Hi. So I've got my B. Smithi under my care now for about 3 months. And he/she had recently molted a week ago. His/her body size is 1.5cm and a legspan of 2cm. I am just wondering when or what size does a B. Smithi start to display its beautiful coloration. This is him/her now.
IMO usually somewhere between 1-2 inches. I've never owned a B. smithi, but have other Brachys (emilia, boehmei, and albopilosum) which are probably similar.
If you look really close, you can see the lighter coloured 'bands' or 'knees' already
The colours can be seen in three molts I think. B.hamorii (the name changed, from B.smithi to B.hamorii) don't grow fast so it can be a while.
Depends on where you bought it. If you bought it from an arachnoboards member it'll probably start showing around 2" or so. If you bought it from backwater reptiles it'll start looking more and more like a B vagans with every molt. They have some very special specimens
