What the heck is this beetle grub?

firefly??I am reallt not familiar with N.American beetles, just a guess

I'd say it's a firefly, it may be an adult female. I occasionally find some similar ones in KS during the summer.

Wow! That is very interesting. I've never seen one of those around here (Texas). But it does look like (sorry to use a common name) a species of Glow Worm (Phengodidae). There is a sp of Glow-worm around here but it has no pattern. But I'm just guessing that what you have found is a Glowworm, I don't know for sure:? .
