I was moving into my room and I found a bunch of spiders. probably about 30. a ton of really small ones.. I let most of them go outside, and only kept this one. 30 spiders in one room means really likely to accidentally swallow one in my sleep. and I wouldn't want to kill one. :D so here is my new pet. he is one of the really small ones, only a few mm. Since I found so many of them of the same species, thats a good reason to believe hes a babie and also reason to keep, will last much longer than an adult. larger ones were of a different species possibly feeding on these guys. does anyone know which species this one is? I live in Las Cruces New Mexico (southern part of NM USA), I believe s/hes some sort of a wolf spider. again, 2 or 3 mm.

I find similar spiders ALL OVER THE PLACE here at my house. Obviously as the spring/summer/fall progress they actually gain a good deal of size. I have seen them as big as .50cent pieces in the house!

During the spring i can go out in my yard and sweep the grass and literally have thousands of the little guys..... I love them to death, but i havent tried to keep them over winter yet.

yeah... same here with the spiders coming into my home. I just have never seen quite this many in one room in less than 15 minutes tho. I'm sure there are 50 more spiders in the room. as there are in any place, but I actually saw more than 30. Normally spiders are pretty good hiders even in an empty room. thats why I think the guy who lived here before never cleaned... that, and the little fact that there was mold EVERYWHERE in the bathroom and some in the room itself! the bathroom looked like a jungle with mold that looked like vins running from ceiling to floor in the bathroom. and mold started migrating to the room underneath the bathroom door. I have spent like 5 hours on the small bathroom and im still not finished. WHAT HAPPENED HERE? (rhetorical statement) DISCUSTING!! BTW I did clean the room and let it air out before I brought my spiders in, all mold was removed, so there are no worries about the spiders.

Just a quick (and potentially useless) word of advice. If there is that many spiders in one room it's reasonable to suspect they are in there because there is a good food source in there for them. While that does appear to be a sling, it also appears to be a Lycosa sling, but I can not be sure as I can't quite make out it's eye configuration from your picture. As you pointed out earlier they could just be living off each other, but I find it unlikely that that many spiders would migrate to one room without being drawn there, especially if they are Lycosa spiders which are avid hunters. And as you pointed out the house was left in fairly unsanitary condition by the previous occupant. Just keep an eye out for vermin friend. I hope I am wrong though.
