What species turtle is this?

My friend’s mutual is giving away a turtle and they don’t even know what species it is. My friend will rescue it and were trying to gather as much info as we can about it since the owner knows almost nothing. It’s bizarre to me how people don’t even research before getting a pet.

Agree need more (and better) photos -you're probably right about Trachemys scripta scripta, but I'm not sure.
