You're keeping a cal king on coco fiber? You might wanna switch to something drier like aspen!

Great pics though! She looks quite hilarious in the second photo.

Coco fiber can be dry. I've used it with some dryer climate animals myself. Although, it does look quite humid in that tank. Cute king though {D

cute pics! I love when animals burrow, and come up with a clump of substrate on their heads! Makes for the cutest pictures!

I'm not going to leave with a strong opinion on the matter, but aspen has always been the superior substrate by choice. It is cleaner, easier to clean (entirely and spot cleaning), allows for burrowing, and has a greater asthetic appeal to most people (if finely shredded).

Reasons I don't like cocofiber for snakes:
1. Holds in feces/urates, making it hard to spot clean
2. Does not cover smell of feces/urates, and makes it worse (my opinion)
3. Dirt bits look like mites, and makes for excellent breeding ground for mites...so, if you have mites, they'll get bad with this stuff.
4. Just dirty.

This is an excellent substrate for tarantulas, tropical scorpions, centipedes, etc. Just not the best for snakes.
