i was looking around this site, and i saw a very intereresting looking spider under the unidentified area, without any replies. it's not mine, but it piqued my interest enough to carry it on to here and find it's identity for myself.

Wow! Very interesting. I thought it was found in the US and got a little excited. S. Australia? Never seen anything like that before. It looks like it might be related to the orb weavers to me because of the cephalathorax and the way it has it's legs positioned. I don't know but thanks for pointing it out. Pretty weird.

Looks sort of like a bolas spider, or at least based on my memory of the golden books guide :). A male, by the look of those pedipalps.

yes that is a bolas spider ...but not a male ,,look closer at the palps they are female...the male is much smaller in this specie
