I got me a "Thai tiger" from a local reptile importer. I believe its an H. longipes, what trait on the IV back legs sets it apart from other Haploelmas? sorry im not at a computer so I cant post a pic at this time.

Leg IV is bit longer than leg I, also on leg IV scopula goes 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up the metatarsus and the dorsal side of same is bushier than other segments.
Without even seeing yours, I'd bet it's H. sp. vonwirthi/vietnam, just because that's mostly what's going around presently.

Lots of good pics and info about this available here, going back many years, difficult to sort through the BS though...

This will give you all the information you need to distinguish the trait in H.longipes.

It is a paper on H.longipes and O.aureotibialis, showing the traits on both spiders wich will help you with the H.longipes traits, and so forth.

Enjoy

Hi,

it doesn't look like Haplopelma longipes. It looks like aforementioned Haplopelma sp. Vietnam instead.

Cheers,

thanks, yeah the more i researched it the more it became clear it was a sp. Vietnam. it did say somewhere they look somewhat similar, though looking at picks clearly shows the difference between the two
