At this time of year, having anything live shipped to Southern California is risky. Proper shipping and cold packs certainly help - but if there are any unscheduled shipping delays, they may thaw before your package arrives and leave the spiders cooking in 100+ temperatures. You might be better off looking into picking something up locally. I know there are some dealers here in SoCal that post listings on the AB Classifieds (Joe Rossi springs to mind right away - he has a lot of rare and exotic species available as well as the more common ones). If you don't mind driving, there are also some upcoming shows. While these shows are primarily reptile-oriented, there is usually a pretty good assortment of tarantulas and other invertebrates available as well. There's one in Victorville this weekend: http://www.reptiliannationexpo.com/ There is also the big Reptile Super Show in San Diego on July 8-9: http://reptilesupershow.com/san-diego/ and in Pomona on August 12-13: http://reptilesupershow.com/los-angeles/ if you can make it to either of those.

What species are you looking for?

Agreed. 90% of my purchases come from the classifieds section here. Better prices, better selection.
