I've been pondering this for as long as I've been keeping my scorps (going on 1.5 years) where is the best place to gauge the tanks temperature?

I have been using a digital thermometer that has a probe and I push the probe half way into the substrate. My theory is; that is where they (my emperors) spend most of their time so that is where I should gauge the temp. Is this an accurate assumption? What ways do ya'll check your temps?

The scorpions all seem happy enough and 'why fix what's not broke' but I'm just curious.

I always gauge the tank temp above the sub., mainly because it's easier and also because the temp inside the burrow will always be cooler than the surrounding above ground temps.. Not sure if that's the right way to do things, but so far it's always worked for me.
