Ts will drum to get attention for there mates that they want to breed w/them. Mostly mature males will mostly do this but females have known to do this as well.

Drumming is part of the mating ritual that occurs between Ts. This is a signal to one another (more the male) letting the female know that he is not prey and does not want to be attacked but he wants to mate........Females will sometimes drum back in response to the males drumming, to let him know come hither I am ready and willing.
The female has pheromones in her silk that identify herself to a male as a possible mate...... and when he comes across her scent trail and gets to her hide or burrow he must drum/vibrate to avoid becoming a quick meal. And even then sometimes that does not work out to well.

It varries from species to species........ If you check out the announcments section I have a few videos of different species mating and the male drumming.
One is on the second page and the other two are on the first page.
