Water for B. Hamorii sling? (1/2")

Hey all, was wondering what would be the best and/or optimal practice for getting my sling moisture.

Should I be misting one corner of the enclosure, provide a small water bowl, or drop water into the corner? The sling is a fairly small B. Hamorii, measuring roughly 1/2 inch, and the provided instructions dictated to mist a wall of the enclosure roughly every other day.

I was reticent to add a water bowl due to the size of the sling, but read that B. Hamorii prefer dry substrate and that even small slings are ok with a smaller water bowl.

I'll attach photos of the enclosure and my hand to give a rough size approximation. Sling is around the size of my thumb-nail. Thanks all.

I’d add a water bowl, just use a milk top and fill it with water. Don’t do misting, does more harm than good.

water bottle cap flooded over now and then you have plently of space to add one in that cage. do pay attention to how the color of the coco fiber changes depending on how dry or damp it gets. no need to mist

Yep, added an appropriate bowl and made note of the changes to the fiber color

Providing an update picture with the water bowl addition. Little Poland spring water cap. Thanks everyone for the advice!

I like the water bowl as it means I don't have to antagonize the sling to mist the enclosure.

I'll also keep an eye on it to ensure everything runs smoothly. Little bugger now just has to settle in; they've started eating and using the hides I've provided. :]

Cheers everyone.

you did good. I also add a bit of water on soil in one corner. In case it prefers to suck on the soil. I give both options.

i always had water bowls. At first, they were lego cubes because the slings were so small. I never really saw them drink, but it was there.

for the first time in months, i saw my b hamoriis and g pulchripe slings actualy use the water bowl. Im glad it was always there.

If your tarantula doesnt move around much, you could always have a second bowl in the opposite side. They dont always look for the water. They dont always know its there.

thats a really cute enclosure by the way. Really nice size.

Be aware that the rim needs to be kept clear....that substrate touching the rim will wick the water right out of the bowl.

With a half-inch sling, I usually keep a portion of substrate moist and that is enough for water. Larger slings and adults need a water bowl.
