Do I need a long/wider water dish or is this one still fine?..I think he looks uncomfortable but thats from a humans view not another snake's view.

I've seen snakes eat and lay in some akward positions but they always stay in them as if it doesnt hurt...

That one's quite ample for a while yet. As long as the snake can fully submerge as they sometimes like to do before shedding you are good.

The water-bowl size is fine...but, I do think he'd like a more updated newspaper to find out about more current world events.

I agree with the other posts. Remember, snakes are quite bendable and they will shape themselves to the water container, even if it is small.

Yes, snakes drink water...you should always provide clean water for your snake to drink. Be careful, in the Philippines there are many rear-fanged snakes that constrict as well...they may not all be pythons.
