Walked by to check on ole Ms. Mantis, whom I recently caught and brought in since the temperatures are dropping like crazy here, and noticed that she was laying her eggs and making her protective layer of foam around them. I sat intrigued as all get out watching her and took a few pictures and videos. Really wish I already had a macro lens right now! 😓

My mantis layed a egg sack 6 weeks ago but it is still alive they usually die after 2 weeks is it a new record?

I was under the same impression after my initial research when she made her ootheca and I was a touch sad, hopefully both of our ladies last a while longer with us.

No, they lay multiple ooths. They don’t die after laying. Some species can make it a year after maturing.
I believed it, but now have personal experience to back it. My mantis has indeed been thriving since as well as made another ooth.
