Mods, you can move this if you want, but it is 2/3 about true spiders.
anyways, on wednesday i wake up to find my lp has molted and is now about a two inch sling. Later that day i checked up on my p.audax and find that it has molted as well. Today i wake up and check on my finally perfected semi-aquatic enclosure for my dolomedes tenebrosus, and it has molted into about a three inch adult female. i have spent an entire week tweaking that enclosure, and now the spider can barely fit on its bark lol! maybe now it will eat guppies, muahahahahahahahaha!!!

just looked again at the fishing spider, and it is either a male, or a female with really big palps. i didnt know the males got this big. it would be nice if someone could post a picture of a male and a picture of a female. also, if it is male, how long will he live?

Thanks,
Dan

I am not sure what species of Dolomedes you own but here are a couple websites with different pictures of the Male and Female Dolomedes for you to use in reference to figuring out the sex;

Also, from personal experience, we have noticed the Males don't usually have the same life span as Females, as with most other species, it's less. Our male Fishing Spider was a little over a year when he passed and our Female is an adult; both we're caught during the Spring season. From research, I have read that Fishing Spiders have a life span of 2-3 years, much like the larger species of Wolf Spiders. Here is a thread from the boards to help; http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=9807

GOOD LUCK!! :D
