Caught these two hanging out on the side of the containers and it presented decent ventral shots.

First up is my B. auratum, I'm not that great at ventral sexing, but from pics I've seen, it looks female to me. Then again, I could be influencing my own results. :p

Next is my B. boehmei. This picture isn't as good, I still don't know how to use my camera to get good close-up shots. :8o

Hi
Why ventral sex the spiders when you can see what sex they are from the moult pics that you have?
Cheers

Why not?

I'm not all that great at sexing or taking close-up pictures, and I'm trying to see what people look at to decide one way or another. I can pretty much guess they're females based on the molt flaps, but I still have no clue how people tell ventrally or what they look for exactly when making a decision.

But in the case of the B. boehmei, both pictures were bad and it was hard to tell for me. The flap wasn't anywhere near as prominent as the B. auratum, and the slit on the abdomen wasn't near as pronounced either.

Just a simple case of redundancy of trying to make sure.

Anyway, thank you for making my day, those of you who replied. They're the only specimens I have of each, and I was hoping they'd be big beautiful females one day.
