Do any of you use eye protection while hunting with a UV light?

Do any of the big box brick and mortar stores carry UV saftey glasses? eg. lowes, walmart?

My UV light puts out alot of visible light and quickly strains my eyes.

they should be used realy it helps your eyes with that light
its just that they look funny haha but i use them

also it makes it easier to see the scorpions when using them
it draws out the light a bit and the scorpions stand out more
(the orange ones)

im not sure if those places have them but maybe they do

I don't. Unlike the old days with the UV fluorescent tubes, I use a home-made LED light. It is a modified spotlight with the LED array back slightly in the housing. This means that not only is the light emmitted from a narrow range of near-UV but it is also fairly directional.

I'm not suggesting that those who do don't or those who are considering follow my lead. If it makes you happy or you are particularly concerned then by all means get some -- they are cheap and will protect against all sorts of stuff (dirt in your eyes, bugs in your eyes etc. I just don't think it is as critical as when people used field lights that put out a broad spectrum including some shorter wavelengths.

Cheers,
Dave
