Is it safe to use a terracotta pot for a hide if it is broken? my wife broke one earlier today, and i think that it would be perfect for a new hide. but would my T. (G. Rosea) cut itself on it. the sides of it seem to me that it would cut him/her. i was thinking of burying the pot and leaving a side opening exposed for Skeletor to hide in. I can post a couple of photos of the pot if needed.

thanks for any info!

Yes they are safe. just use sandpaper or a file and grind the sharp edges down and you will be fine

Terra cotta

Be sure no insectides were sprayed around the pot. Terra cotta does absorb and if there is any chance of an insecticide, I wouldn't use it. I use only new terra cotta pots for my T's.

my wife is a strict organic gardener, so i know for SURE that there are absolutely no chemicals on the pots!

Invest in a dremmel, then you can cut the pots in half rather than waiting for them to break. Also makes grinding down the sharp edges and drilling vent holes a lot easier.
