So I have a 30 gallon tank and recently added some dragon rock, ended up not using 2 mopani wood that was in it for 5-6 months anymore, plus some rocks that were in there as well, and I was wondering if it would be safe to be put in a millipede habitat. I don't own any millipedes quite yet but ive already bought stuff for them and am preparing to own some desert Millie's. Is there bacteria on the wood and rocks I should worry about? Ive never used any fertilizers or anything in the water besides a water softener to get rid of chlorine and hardly chemicals. Thanks in advance!

My only worry is if the fish tank was using a lot of chemicals. Especially copper or something to treat illness. Sometimes for quarantine etc the aqua folks chemical bomb their water. but if it was your wood the whole time and you know the history, I wouldn't think any issues. A good soak, scrub and rinse never hurts.

If you deem it to be Chem Free... advice putting aside to stabilize for a while before use.

Yes it is my wood, only type of chemical I ever used was a water stabilizer to get rid of metals during water changes. That's they only thing I worry about with this lol

Should be fine then.

Youll know when you try. Every species has its own sensitivities. Fish are super delicate. If it worked for them…

When in doubt, go the canary in a coal mine route. Maybe some wood chomping isopods and see how they fare.

But invertebrates can have different reactions. Some medications for fish may kill molluscs, for example. That would be my worry.
