Last night one of my 2 Uroplectes pilosus females gave birth to about 16-17 babies. :D I raised the mother from 2nd instar, so I am very happy with this result. The mating was in january, so 5-6 months gestationperiod in this case.

(Sorry for the poor quality picture..)

Very nice. Uroplectes is a gorgeous genus :) I wish there was any Uroplectes spp. for sale. I can never find any. :(

Andre,
once again, very nice pictures. How long did it take your Uroplectes to reach maturity?

A very pretty genus, are they communal at all?

It took 8-9 months to reach the sixth instar, but the male I have is 5th instar and obviously sexually mature. I think it's the smallest adult scorpion I have, very thin and about 3,5 cm long. So the male needed only 6 months or so to reach maturity.

I don't know if they are especially communal. The other Uroplectes spp. I have, I always keep in adult couples for periods of months even, but U. pilosus did not seem to like eachother for more than a couple of days.
