Hi, I have a G. rosea who has just flipped over ready to moult. Her hide is like a half hollowed out log, and it's not that big. She's laid her mat and is under there, should I try and lift the hide up or just leave her to it?

Okay, thanks. I've increased humidity a bit. This is the first time she's moulted since I've had her, I'm quite nervous!

The first time is always nerve racking.
I've had spiders molt in the tiniest of places, but keep an eye of her. Hopefully you'll get to watch the whole process.

Don't increase the humidity too much. 1st, G.rosea's like it on the dryer side. 2nd, increasing humidity during the molt has no effect whatsoever apart from stressing your T if it comes from misting. It's the overall humidity level that counts between molts and not directly at the molting period.

Overall, rosea's are hardy and she should pull it off just fine on her own. If this can help you feel better, here is a pic of my B.smithi molting in a same way. The molt went fine and the spider is top shape ;)

I've just searched for posts about moulting and read a bit more into it, I always thought I was ready for it to happen then this just made me panic! Thanks for the picture, the hide I have is pretty much the same as that, I'm a lot calmer now!

One of my juvies molted a couple of weeks ago... refusing to leave his flower pot. He was using the lip of the pot at the end to push free, and I could only watch him flop over. Silly thing. He's just fine, though.

I didn't think she'd have enough space under her hide, but I guess she knows what she's doing! Glad to hear your juvie is alright.

Hey, just a quick update, she moulted fine :) Her old 'skin' (don't know the proper word for it!) got a bit damaged in the process, but I'm going to try and work out whether she's male or female from it. She's the RCF G. rosea, and is lovely and bright now! Thanks for your help.

The proper term is "exuvium". You'll hear some people call it a "molt" but while that's fine for casual conversation I guess, it's not the correct word to use.
