I recently found this millipede (i’m pretty sure it’s a millipede) in my bathroom today, and I’ve been looking all over trying to figure out the species, but I have no clue. I live in Southern Missouri, any ideas? It has a flat back and not that many legs, but it doesn’t have pinchers or anything of the sort that would make me think it’s a centipede. I’ve been wanting to get millipedes but I’ve been doing research on other species, so forgive me for not knowing much. Ty!

also forgive me for the bad lighting :’)

Millipede translates to 1000 legs.
Most Common Species have between 34 to 400.
Record Holder E. persephone with 1306
Duff Millipedes are among the smallest with 13 pairs of legs.

Flat-back millipedes are difficult to identify in general, clear and well lit images would be needed for any attempt at an id.

Would need more detail to be absolutely positive, but this looks like Polydesmus angustus

edit: oops double posted for some reason
When I look up a picture of Polydesmus Angustus it looks spot on. It baffles me how you’re so good at that!

It’s interesting though, because if you’re correct, which I 100% believe you are, that would make her invasive. Interesting.

Yep! I would say introduced/naturalized, “invasive” tends to be a term reserved for introduced species that are causing harm. These millis are established from coast to coast in the US
