I think the Grammostola Rosea is such a unrated Tarantula. I just thought so in til mine molted. She has the prettiest cooler of red that I have ever seen. Why are these T's so underrated?? Is it because there a beginner species?

And, its probably because they've been around almost as long as the hobby.

Look under its front set of legs you'll see a set of hooks shows it in your 3rd picture near the right side of the picture

But I looked at her molt and she had a little slit in it. I looked at all the sexing pictures and it seemed like a match..

Also look at the pedipalps you'll see they're round on the ends. Regardless it's a gorgeous rosea but it is a male

Well, both males and females have the 'slit' you're referring to, however only females will have the spermathecae...

Find a female on the boards if you'd like to mate him. :)

You can post an ad Here saying you have a MM rosea ready to ship out, (be sure and let whoever contacts you know he's fresh, and you have not yet seen a sperm web)

or you can search for an old enough female Here and do it all yourself :)

I guess I should mention, keep an eye out for him to make a sperm web.. Unless you observe your T's quite often, you probably will never see it done.. but you should see the remains of it like in a corner somewhere.. you'll just see web thats been torn up. Until this happens, he's technically 'unloaded' and any mating attempts would only be risking his life.

Well, congratulations on the molt, sir! Don't worry once you have bred him successfully, you will have a lot of baby rosies to take care of.

They arent bad looking but tend to be pet rocks. A rosie was my first and it nearly bored me out of the hobby.

I forgot to mention that your pics are great. I wasnt trying to put anyone down with my reply. I was just being honest. I tend toward heavy webbers and active construction workers, I only make a few exceptions.
