Trying to find out what type this is

Hello,
We came across this guy and we are trying to find out what kind of tarantula this is. We are in Southern California in LA County if that helps.

It looks like an Aphonopelma sp.
It also looks like it doesn't like those wood chips.

Agree with the MM Aphonopelma. Would probably have been best left to do its thing.

It will just deteriorate now it has matured. It needs to fullfill its purpose.
