Toad found

Hello. My neighbors found this toad in their grass. He’s not active and was walking weird. I was wondering what type of toad it is. I’m in SoCal. Is it a native or a pet.

toads are RARELY sold as pets.

If native, release it.

It's a Western Toad. They are native. Give it a good soak in clean water and release it if you're not looking to keep it as a pet. It may have been exposed to pesticides or injured somehow. Sad. I hope he pulls through! I love toads and have had these as pets before They are the cutest!

Thank you. I soaked it but I think it got into chemicals. I got some water and choir for it but it’s not moving and didn’t burrow or anything.

Oh poor thing. It's sad that people are so determined to use pesticides. Kills all the cool stuff along with the pests. Thanks for trying.

Sad update. I came home from work and the toad wasn’t alive. I’m very sad because my neighbors get a lot of snakes and animals I usually relocate but this one just wasn’t okay. Thanks for the help
