To feed or not to feed

I recently recieved a chilean pink hair tarantula, and i was wondering if i should feed it a pinkie. She seems full grown, and i've read that feeding them pinkies are a good idea. I'm not sure how to go about doing this, whether i should just put it in or not. Am i supposed to give them live or dead ones, could you help out?

I give live ones to my blondi, and am trying to change her. 1. The pinkie makes HORRIBLE sounds, while being eaten. That's a biggie, for me. Just put it in there.
